Food and Beverage Registration in Indonesia

Food and Beverage is one of the most strictly regulated industries in Indonesia. Various licenses and certifications from government bodies are required in order to sell food and beverages in the Indonesian market. In Indonesia, licenses for food and beverages are given by The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan/BPOM). Food and Beverage Registration Requirements:

  1. Letter of Appointment (LoA)
  2. Certificate of Free Sales (CFS)
  3. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  4. Master of Formula
  5. Packaging Design
  6. Company Deed and Ministerial Decree
  7. Business Registration Number (NIB)
  8. Business License
  9. Location Permit/Domicile Certificate
  10. Commercial License
  11. Company Tax Registry (NPWP)

Food and Beverage Registration Procedures:

This procedure is mandatory prior to BPOM registration, the importer must prove their ownership of a warehouse, the minimum lease for the warehouse is 2 years. In this process, the importer must also obtain SMKPO certification.

Registration into the BPOM system to obtain an e-Reg account.

Pre-registration (consultation and product categorization), registration, conduct evaluation, assess findings and do revisions.

BPOM approves the registration and issues Distribution License/Izin Edar to the importer. The license is valid for 5 years.
